Zenith’s Retirement Benefit Expert Steve Mendelsohn Chosen for Prestigious National Committee

We are pleased to announce that Zenith American Solutions’ Steve Mendelsohn has been chosen to be on the American Academy of Actuaries Multiemployer Plans Committee.

Steve is an actuary in Zenith American Solutions’ pension practice with extensive pension experience. He joined Zenith American Solutions in 2019 and serves as a key resource across all of Zenith American Solutions’ pension business, applying his actuarial background and expertise to complex and emerging issues that arise.

Prior to joining Zenith American Solutions, Steve served as the National Practice Leader for MassMutual’s defined benefit actuarial services, and New York/Northern New Jersey practice lead for AON Hewitt’s actuarial consulting group. He also served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Actuary at Retirement System Group in New York. Steve is an Enrolled Actuary under ERISA and currently serves as a fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries in Public Practice, an active member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. He has been a frequent speaker at national Union and Public Sector conferences on emerging issues facing Defined Benefit plans, employers, trustees, participants, elected officials and taxpayers, along with viable solutions for all these key stakeholders.

The Academy’s Multiemployer Plan Committee’s purpose is to bring to the public and the United States actuarial profession expertise regarding multiemployer pension plans. Within the scope of this mission, the committee provides independent and objective analysis, advice, and education to stakeholders (such as legislators, contributing employers, trustees) of multiemployer plans. The Committee maintains contact with federal and state regulatory agencies to offer advice and seek action on current issues impacting multiemployer plans.
